Another year gone. Time for me to look back on it in terms of art!
It took me over a month to upload my first work of 2014, but it finally happened in the form of this Lauren Lockhart™ sketch, one of several I did this year. Because she's amazing.
Followed up several days later by this KT Cannon™ sketch! A lot of sketches this year, as my college work ramped up significantly the closer I got to graduation.
KT became an activist for the first time ever (but certainly not the last) with this work, created for the END IT movement against modern slavery (official website: ENDITmovement.com ).
Lauren and KT share a nice cuddle to celebrate his 22nd birthday (and mine). Also, Marlins shorts.
For VanillaSurfboard's birthday I tried out a new style of vectorizing a sketch in Adobe Illustrator. It worked quite well.
Debut of ZZ Kelly™, a "second-tier" character for KTC. Originally debuted May 21, and colored about two months later.
This was part of my first-ever art trade with the great Dj-Reverberance, whose eponymous character I totally love.
I drew an alternate, strapless outfit for Kaminari Yamagata™ that might be used during the times she hangs out with her closet friends Lauren and KT.
Another birthday drawing, this time for my lovely friend—more like a deviant sister —xX-JadeDiamond-Xx and her incredible main character of the same name.
I technically did not post this work, but I helped create Loor101's Saxy Sonic Girls! video, which turned out spectacularly! She's awesome and so talented and I can't wait to work with her again on stuff!
One of my best works this year, though it's also a collaboration, this time with x-LittleKitsune-x…and it features my relatively new anthro character Matt Johnson™! She did the lineart and I colored it. I absolutely love how this turned out!!
And this, I think, is my favorite work of mine this year, for good reason: it's MMJ's female lead, the lovely Traeci Lee™. I actually dumped an early version of this and redrew her to be prettier and more friendly. I spent quite a lot of time on this girl, and even made a last-minute addition recently when I added a music note collar, though it might be an optional accessory since at least three of my other characters—MJ, KT, and Lauren—all have a neck accessory of some kind, too. I'll have to figure it out later. But I love Traeci, though. I really, sincerely do. And that gorgeous fox-wolf knows how to be fashionable, too!
This is definitely my favorite Lauren work ever, third-favorite of the year behind the two MMJ ones, and something that I've still yet to color like I told at least two people I would! I love Lauren, too She's a wild girl with a ton of attitude, a passion for music, and really good looks. I could huggle her, too.
Another Lauren sketch, except this time she's practically ready for bed.
This was an entry for a contest Dj-Reverberance did and a follow-up to a previous entry in a previous contest I did for her. It was also the only entry that was in anime style. She really loved it, which made me happy—that's all I wanted when I entered that contest, anyway And she also loved Kam's design, too, so I'll definitely keep that now!
My other awesome deviant sister MinoxMoonbeam (Maxi) celebrated her birthday earlier this month, and I thought it necessary to draw something for her. I ended up drawing Maxi herself in clothing related to her two loves, Mario and Minox!
I moved Matt Johnson's profile and 10 Facts into a single textual work. I wasn't sure if I should make this part of my year in review, but I'm trying to work on MMJ when I'm not working on KTC. I really do believe it might be something interesting
A quick 10-minute Christmas Eve sketch featuring the Trigger!
And finally, something I created almost three years ago but never uploaded until now, a drawing of ShelliStar's character Michelle Faine in her gorgeous pre-2012 look. I told her about it, she persuaded me to upload it, and here it is. Click on Shelley to read the full story!
Last but not least, a shoutout to other amazing people not previously mentioned above, you all rock
Karckade, you are awesome, your characters are fascinating, and your art is spectacular, I can't wait to see more
PhantomTheFox, it was definitely nice to meet you and hang out in person, a first for the both of us!
Genisay, thanks for taking up my commissions, you're doing great so far and there's more to come!
DanSyron, I know I haven't talked to you as much as some of my other friends here, but I'm definitely expecting big things from you and Syron!
XyAckhart, THANK YOU SO MUCH for helping me with KTC! More on that to come, too!
BetaBrothers, even though you're not on DA as much anymore, I love the roleplays on Skype between your characters and mine. I don't know about you, but it's certainly given me a lot of ideas for my own works.
And let me see, uh…there's also Xalisha-light-azureX, RB9, jay070490, Hyper-Studios, Spunkbug, CrazedVulture IchiroZuri, PBJArts…grr, wish I could remember all your names.
Oh, one more thing! I started a KTC group that you should join. Keep me company, and potentially help out with quite possibly one of the most ambitious things you've ever been a part of. AND I finally launched KTCannon.com this year, too! There are also updates on KT's Facebook page too, for those of you who are into that. Give the Trigger some likes!!
Speaking of KTC, I know there haven't been too many announcements on that series lately…
2015 is going to be a real banner year for him. I promise!! (and if THAT has to be the slogan for this year, so be it)
See you guys next year!

Request boost
I'm sure a few of you out there are looking for this kind of thing, but just found an artist whose style I like and they're looking for requests so if you're interested, go check them out! Have fun!
For the record
I will remain on DeviantArt but have been limiting my activities here for reasons 100% unrelated to Eclipse (as I was an early adopter of the new look in order to test-drive it; I am surprised it took this long for it to fully replace Classic, and while it's overall not bad I feel like it is not close to ready for primetime and I can see how it has alienated many longtime deviants). Mainly, the time needed to maintain a public art feed on a regular basis is time I do not have. If you are partaking in the mass exodus from DA, you may also watch me on FurAffinity or follow me on Twitter @mattderojas @BraveworldEnt @NextGenimation or Gab @mattderojas (none of which are related exclusively to art).
The Lover of Me LIVESTREAM
As I've previously mentioned in the description of the stream art above, a livestream for the Sonic fan game THE LOVER OF ME will be going live TODAY starting at 12:00pm ET. Please join us for what should be quite a fascinating experience! https://youtu.be/XBDau73jd8o
2018 Art Year in Review
It's been quite a year for me on the art/creative front, and in some ways a personally game-changing one for me as well. Here, then, is an overview of where I've been in 2018...
I started the year with an unusual request for a fan character which I fulfilled and which turned out better than I expected. This was followed up with an outfit swap art trade—and I gotta say, it certainly proves that she can rock just about anything and still look amazing in it.
By late February, I had obtained an iPad Pro and made an alternate-universe request the first thing I drew on it. You can tell I was still getting used to drawing on a tablet, but on
